Half-Time Report: Georginio Wijnaldum the difference as the Netherlands lead Kazakhstan

Georginio Wijnaldum scored the only goal of the half as the Netherlands lead 1-0 at the break in their must-win Euro 2016 qualifier in Kazakhstan this evening.

The contest took the best part of half-an-hour to throw up a chance, and it fell for the visitors when Manchester United man Memphis Depay drilled just wide of the post.

Minutes later, Danny Blind's men took the lead when Newcastle United's Wijnaldum drilled home from the edge of the box in trademark fashion.

It was very nearly two shortly before the break, but Ajax wideman Anwar El-Ghazi failed to convert a pass from Memphis as under-fire coach Blind moves halfway toward his first win.

Victory for the Dutch would see them leapfrog Turkey into third place in Group A, with the latter travelling away to already-qualified Czech Republic tonight.
