Mark Van Bommel hits back at critics

Netherlands midfielder Mark Van Bommel has refused to take the blame for Holland's poor form at Euro 2012.

The 35-year-old has been singled out for criticism following his performances in Poland and Ukraine, but Van Bommel has insisted that he is not to blame.

"Before, I was a hero; now I am only Van Marwijk's son-in-law. Age has nothing to do with it. If there is a hole between our defensive line and our midfield, it is not because I am walking around the pitch," he told reporters.

Netherlands face Portugal in Group B on Sunday.
