Reina, Higuain to complete Napoli moves

Gonzalo Higuain and Pepe Reina will join Napoli after passing their respective medicals with the Italian club.

Higuain has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Rafael Benitez's side after Real Madrid agreed to sell the striker, who scored 107 goals in six seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, for £34.5m (€40m).

Meanwhile, Reina has joined his former boss on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool.

"Higuain and Reina have passed their medicals and will soon join the rest of the group," Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis wrote on his personal Twitter account.

"On Monday there will be a big party at the San Paolo. You will be able to get to know the new players and the new shirts."

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers said on Sunday that Reina's temporary departure from Anfield was to decrease the club's wage bill, and came after the arrival of Simon Mignolet from Sunderland.

Higuain, who admitted that he wanted to leave the La Liga outfit at the end of last season, was chased by Arsenal before completing his move to Italy.
