Marek Hamsik says that Napoli were made to fight for their victory over Cagliari tonight.

Napoli star Marek Hamsik has said that tonight's 1-0 win over Cagliari will breed confidence within the squad.

The Slovakian struck the only goal of the game in the 73rd minute to lift Partneopei into third place in Serie A.

"Cagliari put us in a lot of difficulty, but this win gives us a lot of confidence," Hamsik told Sky Sport Italia.

"Edinson Cavani was missing, but we did everything the coach asked of us and we were able to bring home the three points."

Napoli host Pescara in Sunday's early fixture.
