St Mirren goalkeeper Craig Samson will hold transfer talks with Motherwell over the coming days.

St Mirren manager Danny Lennon has confirmed that his goalkeeper Craig Samson could join Motherwell this summer.

Well are expected to lose the services of current number one keeper Darren Randolph, who has been heavily linked with a switch to English Championship side Birmingham City.

"We got correspondence from Motherwell yesterday and they are going to open up negotiations," said Lennon. "He has been absolutely fantastic for us and we felt, for a club our size working within our budgets, that we made a good offer.

"Sammy has declined that and taken a bit of a gamble. He believes in his ability and let's see where it takes us."

Samson joined St Mirren from Ayr United in 2010.
