Gaetan Charbonnier scores two second-half goals to give Montpellier a 2-0 win over Lorient.

Two second-half goals from Gaetan Charbonnier gave Montpellier a 1-0 win over Lorient tonight.

Lorient had the first chance after three minutes, but Jeremie Aliadiere could not find the finish to give his side the lead.

Souleymane Camera had Montpellier's first serious effort of the game after 21 minutes, but his shot went wide of the mark.

Soon after, John Utaka had another chance for the home side, though his effort was off target.

Montpellier continued their push for the opener, with Emmanuel Herrera and Bryan Dabo coming close just after the 30-minute mark.

Aliadiere had another chance to give Lorient the lead on 57 minutes, but his finish was way off target.

Two efforts within a minute from Julien Quercia and Mattias Autret almost gave Lorient the lead, but both were well-saved by the goalkeeper.

Montpellier took the lead on 79 minutes through Charbonnier, who was set up well by Remy Cabella.

Charbonnier then confirmed the win on 90 minutes with his second of the game.
