Karl Robinson's side entered the match at stadium:mk knowing that they needed a win and other results to go their way in order to keep alive faint hopes of Championship survival.

Nicky Maynard took the first step on that path when he put the Dons ahead after just six minutes, but the home fans' elation was to be short-lived as Segi Canos curled in an equaliser just three minutes later.

The Bees went on to dominate the game and second-half strikes from Lasse Vibe, Ryan Woods and Jake Bidwell put the result beyond doubt.

MK, who earned promotion to the second tier just last season, are left an insurmountable nine points off 21st-placed Fulham with just two games of the season remaining.

Today's results wrap up the Championship relegation scrap, with the Dons joining Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers in League One next season.
