Millwall snatch late point against Bolton

Martyn Woolford's late equaliser gave Millwall a point against Bolton Wanderers as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw in their Championship clash at The Den.

The Lions, who began the game just outside the drop zone, started brightly with Jermaine Easter seeing his early effort go just wide of Adam Bogdan's goal.

Despite the positive opening from the hosts, Bolton took the lead. Chris Eagles's cross was met by the head of Middlesbrough loanee Lukas Jutkiewicz, and his effort proved too good for keeper David Forde.

Despite scoring, Wanderers needed some last-ditch defending to stay in front as both Steve Morison and Easter again went close to an equaliser.

As the Lions enjoyed plenty of first-half possession, new signing Ed Upson and Lee Martin saw their respective attempts go wide.

Ian Holloway's men continued in the same vein after the interval as DJ Campbell and Morison saw their respective headers go just over Bogdan's bar.

Despite Millwall's best efforts to draw level, they should have gone further behind with 10 minutes remaining as Bolton were awarded a penalty for a handball offence by Danny Shittu.

Jutkiewicz stepped up to take the spot kick, but his poor effort was easily saved by Forde to the delight of the New Den crowd.

Dougie Freedman's side were made to pay for that miss soon after. Simeon Jackson produced a fine save from Bogdan, but Woolford was quickest to the rebound to equalise.

Millwall looked for a late winner, but it was Jutkiewicz who nearly redeemed himself in injury time when his shot went close to beating Forde.
