Ray Parlour hoping for Middlesbrough promotion

Talking to Sports Mole, Ray Parlour expresses his desire to see Middlesbrough return to the Premier League.

Ray Parlour has admitted that it "would be great" to see his former club Middlesbrough back in the Premier League.

The Teesiders have struggled for consistent form ever since they were relegated down to the Championship back in 2009.

However, under the guidance of Aitor Karanka this term, Boro occupy one of the automatic promotion places with just eight matches left to play.

In the wake of their midweek 1-0 win away at Derby County, Parlour has backed Karanka's men to secure a return to the top flight.

"They've done really well. It's an unpredictable, yet brilliant league. What a great result they got away at Derby on Tuesday. I'm hoping from [chairman] Steve Gibson's point of view that they get up because he's put a lot of money into the club. It would be great to see Boro back in the Premier League," he told Sports Mole.

"There's eight games to go and they've just got to concentrate. It's an old cliche, but it's all about taking one game at a time and trying to put in performances like they did against Derby. If they do that, they'll be going up."

Today, Boro face fellow promotion contenders Bournemouth at Dean Court.

Ray Parlour caught a game with London and South-East finalist Jake Goodall at the Carlsberg Bar in Leicester Square to help him prepare for Boot Camp in the People's Pundit, championed by Carlsberg – the official beer of the Premier League.
