Aitor Karanka wins monthly Championship award

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has been named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for December.

The accolade is recognition for a run of form that saw Boro claim 13 points from a possible 15, during which time they scored seven goals and conceded none.

On top of that, the Teesiders have replaced Brighton & Hove Albion at the top of the table.

"It's a lovely honour to have but I think this a reflection of how well our team is playing at the moment," said the Spanish manager.

Next weekend Boro will play host to division rivals Burnley in the third round of the FA Cup.
