Alex Baptiste stretchered off on Middlesbrough debut

Middlesbrough defender Alex Baptiste has suffered a serious leg injury on his debut for the Championship club.

The 29-year-old was stretchered off the pitch during the first half of Boro's pre-season friendly away to York City on Saturday.

Baptiste came off second best when he challenged for the ball with an opponent.

The club has yet to confirm the extent of the injury.

Baptiste joined Middlesbrough from Blackburn Rovers at the start of the month.
