Manchester United's Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo are named in the Portugal squad for their World Cup qualifier playoff semi-final with Turkey.

Manchester United's Diogo Dalot, Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo have all been named in the Portugal squad for their World Cup qualifier playoff semi-final with Turkey.

Fernando Santos's side will take on Turkey on March 24 for the right to face either Italy or North Macedonia for a spot in the finals of the 2022 World Cup.

Dalot, Fernandes and Ronaldo all suffered Champions League disappointment for Man United earlier this week but have been named in the 25-man squad for the key contest.

The absence of Manchester City's Ruben Dias opens the door for Sporting Lisbon's Goncalo Inacio to earn a call-up, although there are notable absentees in the shape of Porto's Vitinha, Wolverhampton Wanderers's Jose Sa and Sporting's Joao Palhinha.

However, Valencia's Goncalo Guedes and AC Milan's Rafael Leao have been rewarded for their impressive performances at club level with positions in the squad.

There are also spots for Premier-League based Cedric Soares (Arsenal), Joao Cancelo (Manchester City), Ruben Neves (Wolves), Joao Moutinho (Wolves), Bernardo Silva (Man City) and Diogo Jota (Liverpool).

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Anthony Lopes (Lyon), Diogo Costa (Porto), Rui Patricio (Roma)

Defenders: Cedric Soares (Arsenal), Joao Cancelo (Manchester City), Diogo Dalot (Manchester United), Goncalo Inacio (Sporting), Jose Fonte (Lille), Pepe (Porto), Nuno Mendes (PSG), Raphael Guerreiro (Borussia Dortmund)

Midfielders: Danilo Pereira (PSG), Matheus Nunes (Sporting), William Carvalho (Real Betis), Ruben Neves (Wolves), Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United), Joao Moutinho (Wolves), Otavio Monteiro (Porto), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)

Forwards: Joao Felix (Atletico Madrid), Andre Silva (RB Leipzig), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Diogo Jota (Liverpool), Goncalo Guedes (Valencia), Rafael Leao (AC Milan)
