West Ham United sign Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United

West Ham United complete the signing of 20-year-old striker Ashley Fletcher on a four-year deal from Manchester United.

West Ham United have completed the signing of Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United on a four-year deal.

The 20-year-old striker was wanted by a number of clubs having spent the second half of last season on loan at Barnsley, where he scored the opening goal in their League One playoff final victory over Millwall.

Fletcher's contract at Old Trafford expired at the end of last season, though, and the two clubs must now agree on a compensation fee.

"I am very excited to be here. West Ham are a massive club and I am just happy that I can come and further my development here at West Ham," he told the club's official website.

"I think it is a club with a lot of ambition. They have a lot of good players and it was a special final season. They managed to finish the campaign very well.

"West Ham are a club built on traditions of giving youngsters a run and hopefully I can get my chance as well."

Fletcher, who didn't make a single appearance for United's senior team, becomes West Ham's fourth signing of the summer after Havard Nordtveit, Sofiane Feghouli and Gokhan Tore.
