Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund says that he is "very happy" at Manchester United amid the recent speculation surrounding his future.

Rasmus Hojlund has said that he is "very happy" at Manchester United amid the recent speculation surrounding his future.

The Denmark international ended a 21-game run without a goal when he hit the back of the net in Man United's 3-0 win over Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday night.

A tough 2024-25 campaign has seen the striker only manage eight goals and two assists in 39 appearances for the Red Devils, and there is currently a host of talk surrounding the forward's long-term future at Old Trafford.

Man United are planning to sign a new striker this summer, with head coach Ruben Amorim believed to be keen on Napoli's Victor Osimhen, Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres, RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike.

Napoli are said to be among the clubs keeping a close eye on Hojlund's situation, with the 22-year-old potentially becoming available for transfer during this summer's window.

However, Hojlund has insisted that he is "very happy" at Old Trafford and pleased to be working under Amorim.

The Dane did also mention Erik ten Hag, claiming that the Dutchman "was doing something good" at Old Trafford before he was sacked as head coach at the end of September.

"I'm focused on the task with Ruben, because that project is incredibly exciting, but Erik was of course one of the reasons why I moved to Manchester United," Tipsbladet quotes Hojlund as saying.

"He was doing something good and was a talented coach, but it didn't work out, and that's how it is. I'm still very happy to be at Manchester United. It's the club I've always dreamed of playing for. And I'm really happy for Ruben – he's a cool character and a cool person."

Should Man United keep Hojlund?

There is no getting away from the fact that it has been a tough season for Hojlund, with a return of three Premier League goals in 24 appearances an indication of his struggles.

However, in fairness to the former Atalanta BC attacker, the service into him has been non-existent for much of the season.

Hojlund has turned a corner in recent games, impressing against Real Sociedad in the Europa League at Old Trafford on March 13, before starring against Leicester in the Premier League three days later.

The Dane should never have been Man United's starting striker at this stage of his career, and that is highly unlikely to be the case next season, but he is still capable of having a huge impact for the club in a reduced role.

As a result, there should be a spot for Hojlund at Old Trafford during the 2025-26 campaign.
