Solskjaer to offer Paul Pogba Man Utd captaincy?

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly willing to offer Paul Pogba the captain's armband in a bid to convince him to stay at Old Trafford this summer.

Pogba has been heavily linked with a move away from United during the current transfer window, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus all understood to be interested in his services following a tumultuous campaign in Manchester.

The 26-year-old notably fell out with Solskjaer's predecessor Jose Mourinho during the first half of the season, with their relationship plunging to a new low when Mourinho stripped him of the vice-captaincy.

However, Pogba has since featured as skipper under Solskjaer, and ESPN reports that the Norwegian is willing to hand his midfielder the role on a permanent basis should he stay.

Antonio Valencia is currently the club captain at Old Trafford, but he will leave United when his contract expires at the end of next month, while deputy Ashley Young is expected to be handed a reduced role in the first team next season.

Pogba is reportedly eager to leave United this season, while the Red Devils are understood to have lowered their asking price to £138m.
