Sheffield United 'must cover all of Dean Henderson's wages'

Sheff Utd 'must cover all of Henderson's wages'

Sheffield United have reportedly been dealt a blow in their efforts to agree another season-long loan deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The former England Under-21 international has boosted his stock during two temporary spells at Bramall Lane, putting him in contention to become a future number one at Old Trafford.

With David de Gea likely to keep hold of that role for the next campaign, it leaves United in a position where they must find a compromise with the 23-year-old.

The Sun claims that club officials are willing to hand Henderson a significant pay rise in order to fend off interest from other clubs, including Chelsea.

However, that would seemingly put Sheffield United in a weaker position with regards to a third successive loan deal as United demand that Henderson's wages are paid in full.

Although the Yorkshire outfit may be prepared to break their wage structure to retain the stopper's services, Chris Wilder will inevitably be left to contemplate cheaper alternatives.
