Man United transfer news: Roma 'make contact' over move for defender in addition to Jadon Sancho pursuit

Sancho and who? Roma 'make contact' over another Man United player

Roma have reportedly made contact with Manchester United over a potential move for Tyrell Malacia

The Italian side are already working on a deal to sign Jadon Sancho, who is back at Old Trafford following his loan spell with Chelsea.

Man United are willing to allow Sancho to join Roma on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for £20m at the end of the season.

However, Sancho is yet to decide whether to accept Roma's proposal or seek an alternative move before the transfer deadline.

Roma explore Malacia deal

While Roma await Sancho's response, they are considering a move for one of his Manchester United teammates.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Roma have 'made contact' with Man United over a potential deal for Malacia.

The update claims that Roma asked the Red Devils about the conditions of a deal when they were discussing Sancho's proposed move.

Malacia is believed to be 'keen' to join Gian Piero Gasperini's side, although Besiktas are also showing an interest in the Dutchman.

Malacia searching for regular game time

The left-back spent the second half of last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, where he made 12 appearances in all competitions.

While he has returned to Man United, Malacia is widely expected to leave before the end of the window after being deemed surplus to requirements by Ruben Amorim.

There is ultimately no room for Malacia in the first-team squad, with Amorim able to call upon Patrick Dorgu, Diego Leon, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw as his left wing-back options.

As a result, the 26-year-old will now be looking for the right club that can give him the opportunity to be a regular starter.
