Cristiano Ronaldo's uncertain future at Real Madrid is reportedly scuppering the side's potential move for Manchester United keeper David de Gea.

The uncertainty surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Real Madrid is reportedly affecting David de Gea's potential transfer into the club.

The Portuguese's future at the Bernabeu came in for question over the summer, with reports suggesting that he had grown unhappy with life in the Spanish capital and had begun looking at other options.

In recent days it was claimed that Ronaldo has now informed Los Blancos chiefs that he wants to leave at the end of the season and will look to "force" his way out if they do not sell him willingly.

Meanwhile, Real have long been linked with a move for Manchester United stopper De Gea to replace Keylor Navas and are weighing up making an official approach next summer.

According to Diario Gol, however, those plans have been thrown into doubt by Jorge Mendes, the agent who represents both Ronaldo and De Gea, as he attempts to first deal with the striker's situation.

United - touted as a potential destination for Ronaldo - are said to be adamant that De Gea will not be sold, with manager Jose Mourinho - also a client of Mendes - recently describing the Spaniard as "the best goalkeeper in the world".
