Chelsea and Manchester United target Declan Rice will only sign a new contract at West Ham United if it includes a release clause, according to a report.

Declan Rice has made it clear that he will only sign a new contract with West Ham United if it includes a release clause, according to a report.

The midfielder was subject to heavy transfer speculation throughout the transfer window, but ended up staying at the London Stadium.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly all interested in signing the England international, who scored his second goal for his country on Thursday night against Hungary.

90min states that Rice, whose current deal with the Hammers expires in 2024, would be willing to sign an extension but only if a release clause was inserted which would allow him to leave if it was met.

The report adds that while the 22-year-old is fully concentrated on the year ahead, he expects this season to be his last in claret and blue.

Meanwhile, the report claims that West Ham have a rule of not including release clauses in contracts, making the prospect of a new deal unlikely.

Since breaking through in the 2017-18 season, Rice has made 148 appearances for West Ham and he is now vice-captain.
