Leeds United attacker Raphinha will reportedly see a £25m release clause in his contract come into effect if the club are relegated from the Premier League this season.

Leeds United attacker Raphinha will reportedly see a £25m release clause in his contract come into effect if the club are relegated from the Premier League this season.

Even though the Whites are currently sitting seven points clear of the drop zone, they remain in a battle for survival as all four teams below them have at least one game in hand.

Raphinha has been one of Leeds' brightest spark in their underwhelming 2021-22 top-flight campaign, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in 27 league appearances.

Barcelona are believed to be in advanced talks to sign the Brazil international, with one report claiming that they have agreed a five-year deal to sign him this summer, while Premier League quartet, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have also registered their interest.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Raphinha's contract includes two release clauses, with only one to come into effect depending on whether Leeds survive in the Premier League.

Should the Whites remain in the English top flight, Raphinha would be available for £75m, but if they are relegated to the Championship, then interested clubs could sign the attacker for as little as £25m.

Raphinha, who will see his current deal at Elland Road expire in June 2024, has allegedly put contract talks on hold as he considers his future.
