Manchester United and Andre Onana's stances over the goalkeeper's future have reportedly been revealed as the Red Devils close in on the signing of Senne Lammens.
Onana recovered from a pre-season injury in time for last weekend's showdown with Arsenal, but he was ruthlessly left out of the squad, as Altay Bayindir started in between the posts with Tom Heaton providing cover.
Bayindir was culpable for Riccardo Calafiori's winner in that 1-0 loss to the Gunners - failing to properly deal with a Declan Rice corner - although Ruben Amorim refused to offer any guarantees over Onana's inclusion for Sunday's trip to Fulham.
The Cameroon international's two years at Old Trafford have been blighted by a series of high-profile mistakes, and the Red Devils are now understood to be on the verge of capturing a potential new number one.
On Friday, it was reported that Man United were making progress in talks to sign Royal Antwerp's Lammens, who has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and will join in a deal worth £17m.
Onana 'expected to stay' at Man United despite Lammens arrival
In spite of the 23-year-old's imminent arrival, the Daily Mail claims that Onana is expected to remain at the Theatre of Dreams for the 2025-26 season, and there is little chance of him leaving before the transfer window closes.
Both Man United and the goalkeeper himself supposedly believe that they will continue their partnership for at least one more year, during which Onana and Lammens will fight for the right to become Amorim's undisputed number one.
However, the report adds that Onana's former club Inter Milan could still make a move to re-sign the 29-year-old as they prepare for life after Yann Sommer, who turns 37 in December and is out of contract at the end of the season.
Monaco and Saudi Pro League clubs have also been credited with an interest in Onana, and Man United apparently informed the former that bids of £30m would be considered for the Cameroonian, who has three years left to run on his Old Trafford contract with an option until 2029.
Onana has registered 24 clean sheets in 101 appearances for Man United since making the switch from Inter in 2023, in addition to conceding 148 goals across all competitions.
Comparing Onana and Lammens ahead of Man United goalkeeping battle

The baseline statistics favour Lammens when compared to Onana, as the Royal Antwerp goalkeeper conceded 32 goals in the 2024-25 league season at a rate of 1.07 per game, whereas Onana shipped 44 for Man United at a rate of 1.29 per match.
The Belgian also registered a far superior save percentage of 81.4% - stopping 127 of the 161 shots that came his way - whereas Onana's ratio was down at 68.9%, as he kept out 88 of the 132 shots on target he faced.
The current Man United shot-stopper nevertheless registered two more league clean sheets than Lammens (nine to seven), but the latter was especially impressive when faced with a penalty situation.
Indeed, Lammens saved four of the six spot kicks he faced in the last Belgian Pro League campaign, while Onana let in three of his four penalties against in the Premier League, only stopping Southampton's Cameron Archer.
