Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants his club to negotiate new deals with Spanish duo Ander Herrera and Juan Mata, according to a report.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly desperate for his club to negotiate new deals with Spanish duo Ander Herrera and Juan Mata.

Herrera and Mata will both be out of contract at the end of this season, and the pair have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford due to the fact that neither is a guaranteed pick in Mourinho's first XI.

However, according to the London Evening Standard, the United boss is determined to keep Herrera and Mata at the club due to their influence in the dressing room.

The report claims that Mourinho has advised executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to ensure that the pair are offered extensions ahead of the January transfer window.

Luke Shaw and David de Gea are also both reportedly believed to be close to signing new contracts with the 20-time English champions, who return to action away to Chelsea this weekend.
