Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi is available for transfer this summer, claims European football journalist Mark Langdon.

Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi is available for transfer in this summer's transfer window, according to European football journalist Mark Langdon.

Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the 32-year-old, who has helped Juve win back-to-back Serie A titles since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Langdon, United would have the opportunity to sign Matuidi this summer, but the Red Devils are unlikely to make a move ahead of the new season.

"Juventus need to let somebody go in their midfield because they've signed [Aaron] Ramsey and [Adrien] Rabiot, so Matuidi is available," Langdon told talkSPORT.

"PSG have had him before and as they've signed Idrissa Gueye I don't think they would want him and Matuidi as well; it might be one too many defensive midfielders.

"Most of Manchester United's business has been looking at younger players, with [Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, both 21], and even the ones they've been looking at not in that Matuidi age bracket. It would be a strange transfer policy from the [rest of the] summer."

United are said to be in discussions with Juve over a swap deal involving Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku, although it has been claimed that the former's wage demands could scupper a move to Old Trafford.
