Man Utd 'agree deal to re-sign Vidic'

Former Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic could reportedly make a shock return to the club in January, as Louis van Gaal looks to strengthen his backline.

The 33-year-old, who enjoyed an eight-year stint with the Red Devils before joining Inter Milan in the summer, is said to have agreed personal terms on a move back to Old Trafford.

A poor start to life in Italy for the centre-back has not put United off, with the Daily Star claiming that Vidic will return in the New Year having come to an agreement with Van Gaal.

United, who are currently third in the Premier League table, have suffered numerous injury problems in defence this season which has led to speculation linking them with an array of players ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.

Vidic made over 300 appearances for the English outfit before moving on earlier this year.
