Man United 'refuse to meet £94m Martinez release clause'

Manchester United will reportedly not move for Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez this summer as the Red Devils are not prepared to meet the £94m release clause in the Argentine's contract.

The 20-time English champions are expected to be in the market for a new striker at the end of the 2019-20 campaign despite signing Odion Ighalo on loan before the end of the January window.

Martinez has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford, but according to The Times, United are not prepared to pay the £94m buyout clause in his contract with Antonio Conte's side.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive scoring form for Inter during the 2019-20 campaign, finding the back of the net on 16 occasions in 27 appearances.

Barcelona are thought to be the favourites to sign the Argentina international this summer as they look for a long-term Luis Suarez replacement.

Martinez arrived at I Nerazzurri from Racing Club in the summer of 2018.
