Liverpool reportedly join the race to sign in-demand Santos midfielder Thiago Maia, who is now said to be attracting interest from eight clubs.

Santos midfielder Thiago Maia has reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool ahead of the January transfer window.

It has previously been claimed that the 19-year-old has already emerged as a target for Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain but it has been suggested that as many as five more teams are keen on the Brazilian.

According to ESPN, Liverpool - as well as Zenit St Petersburg, Schalke 04, AS Monaco and Napoli - want to push through a deal for the player at the start of 2017.

Maia - who has made 60 league appearances for Santos - is yet to represent the Brazilian national side but he was part of the team that won the gold medal at last summer's Olympic Games.
