Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta seemingly denies that his side will attempt to sign Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic in January.

Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta has seemingly played down suggestions that his club will attempt to sign Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic at the start of 2020.

The Italian giants have been strongly linked with a move for the Serbia international, who will see his current deal at Old Trafford expire at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Marotta, though, has branded the January transfer window "poor" and claimed that there are "no great players" available for purchase in the middle of the season.

"The January window is poor, you don't come across many great opportunities. I don't know what the market can offer. No great players are available," Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

Matic has only made five appearances for the Red Devils this season despite their problems in midfield.

The 31-year-old has not even made the bench for the team's last three matches, and it seems unlikely that he will be involved against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
