Full cost of Paul Pogba 'to reach £226m'

The full cost of Manchester United's impending signing of Paul Pogba has been calculated at almost a quarter of a billion pounds by an Italian newspaper.

La Repubblica claims that the Frenchman's return to Old Trafford could eventually cost the club £226m through bonuses, add-ons and wages.

The transfer fee agreed with Juventus is thought to be a world-record £112m, while Pogba's agent Mino Raiola will pocket around £25m for brokering the deal.

A number of clauses have been inserted into the contract that will ensure that the Italian champions receive even more cash in the coming years if both Pogba and his club meet certain performance criteria, such as goals scored, league position and competitions won.

The £226m figure also includes Pogba's wages over the course of the five-year contract, which are thought to be around £220,000 a week after tax.

The summer window's most protracted transfer saga could finally be completed today, with rumours suggesting that the deal is edging to completion.
