Sir Alex Ferguson scouts Crewe Alexandra youngster

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was reportedly in attendance to watch Crewe Alexandra teenager Nick Powell play against Aldershot Town this afternoon.

The 18-year-old has been linked with a number of top flight clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool.

However, it now appears that United have entered the race for Powell's service following Ferguson's appearance at Gresty Road, according to BBC Radio Stoke.

Everton manager David Moyes was also at the game, believed to also be scouting Powell, who has made over 50 senior appearances for Crewe.
