Father: 'Edinson Cavani should leave Paris Saint-Germain'

Undervalued Edinson Cavani should leave Paris Saint-Germain and join either Real Madrid, Manchester United or Juventus, according to the striker's father.

The father of Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has revealed that he wants his son to play for Real Madrid, Manchester United or Juventus.

Cavani joined PSG from Napoli in 2013 and has scored more than 70 goals for the French champions, despite mainly operating in a wide position due to the presence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 29-year-old came off the bench to score his side's winner against Chelsea in the last-16 stage of the Champions League on Tuesday, but Luis Cavani has claimed that his son is being wasted in an unfamiliar position.

"PSG bought him to play at the pinnacle of the attack, but Edi plays on the wing. He's not happy in that position," Luis Cavani told Sport 5. "He can't help his team like he wants to.

"As long as Zlatan is there, he will play in the centre. It's obviously clear that Edi would be more effective in the middle and would profit from the numerous crosses from his teammates. Edi was born to score. I'd like to see him play for Real Madrid, Manchester United or Juventus."

Man United are believed to have a long-standing interest in the Uruguay international.
