Radamel Falcao to become Premier League's highest-paid player

Manchester United will take up all of Radamel Falcao's £346,000-a-week salary should he complete his loan move to the club this evening.

Manchester United target Radamel Falcao will become the highest-paid player in the Premier League should he complete his proposed loan move this evening.

The AS Monaco striker is on the verge of a surprise transfer to Old Trafford having previously been linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal this summer.

The Red Devils have emerged as frontrunners for his signature, however, agreeing a £6m loan move for the Colombian with the option to buy at the end of the season.

United will also pay the 28-year-old's £346,000-a-week wage packet in full, taking the overall cost of the season-long deal to £24m.

Louis van Gaal has already spent more than £145m in his first transfer window in charge of the club, with Falcao's deal taking his outlay to over £150m.

Falcao has scored two goals in three games for Monaco this season having netted 11 times in 19 outings last term.
