Frenkie de Jong's representatives are reportedly holding talks with Barcelona to discuss the player's future.
The Dutchman has been the centre of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with Erik ten Hag keen to reunite with the former Ajax player at Manchester United.
However, Chelsea have also entered the race to sign the 25-year-old, and are believed to be close to agreeing a deal with Barcelona.
With rumours continuing to circulate about De Jong's future, The Mirror is reporting that the player's representatives Ali Dursun and Hasan Centikay have arrived in Spain to hold talks with the Catalan giants.
The issue of €17m (£14.3m) in deferred wages is believed to be one of the main talking points between the two parties, with De Jong reluctant to consider a departure until the matter is resolved.
De Jong could feature in Barcelona's season opener against Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou on Saturday evening.
