Benfica 'prepare mega deal to keep hold of Felix'

Benfica are reportedly preparing to offer Joao Felix a lucrative new contract in a bid to keep the in-demand teenager at the club amid considerable interest from elsewhere.

The 19-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in European football, scoring 18 times and contributinng 11 assists in 41 appearances for Benfica this season.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus are amongst the clubs to be linked with the Portugal Under-21 international ahead of the opening of this summer's transfer window.

Felix only signed a new contract with Benfica in the latter stages of 2018, but according to A Bola, the club are preparing a fresh deal which could land the teenager just under £2.2m per year.

The report claims that the Portuguese giants are hopeful that the offer will convince Felix to reject interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs to continue for at least another season.

Thirteen of Felix's 18 goals this term have come in Portugal's top flight.
