Adidas 'vetoed Paul Pogba to Real Madrid'

Adidas reportedly played a key role in keeping Paul Pogba at Manchester United beyond the end of the recent transfer window.

The France international was strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout the summer but ultimately remained with United past the deadline.

According to the Daily Star, Adidas urged Pogba, who has been an ever-present for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in the early stages of the 2019-20 campaign, to stay at Old Trafford for at least another year.

The German sportswear label are the midfielder's personal sponsor, while they have a £750m agreement with United to provide the club's kit until at least 2024.

The Red Devils are said to be determined to sign Pogba, who has provided two Premier League assists in four outings this season, to a new long-term deal at the club.

However, the 2018 World Cup winner has reportedly made it clear to the 20-time English champions that he will not be penning an extension due to his desire to move to the Bernabeu.
