How Manchester United could line up against Wolverhampton Wanderers

How Man United could line up against Wolves

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been handed a fresh concern over Marcus Rashford ahead of Saturday's Premier League showdown with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.

The England international has emerged as a major doubt for the contest due to a leg injury, but Ten Hag has been handed better news with Raphael Varane - who has made a rapid recovery from a foot injury and could feature - while all of Lisandro Martinez (foot), Phil Jones (knee), Tom Heaton (ankle), Donny van de Beek (knee) and Scott McTominay (knock) are on the sidelines.

Despite yet another high-profile howler in last weekend's loss to West Ham United, David de Gea - who has apparently agreed to a new contract in Manchester - remains untouchable in between the sticks.

The same can currently be said for Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw at the back, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka should also continue on the right, but Varane's return could force Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia to watch on from the bench as Shaw shifts across to the left.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are poised to pair up in the engine room once again, as creator-in-chief Bruno Fernandes captains the Red Devils from the number 10 position.

Alejandro Garnacho has now fully recovered from an ankle injury and could give Ten Hag food for thought up front, especially with Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst leaving a lot to be desired.

However, Jadon Sancho may be the beneficiary of any attacking alterations, as the England international fights to join Antony and either Martial or Weghorst - if Rashford misses out - in the final third.

Manchester United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Lindelof, Shaw; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Martial
