Liverpool's 2019-20 Premier League title triumph sees them close the gap on Manchester United in the battle to be regarded as English football's most decorated club.

Liverpool's 2019-20 Premier League title triumph has seen them close to within two trophies of Manchester United in the battle to be England's most decorated club.

The bitter rivals are the two most successful clubs in English football history, winning 130 trophies between them throughout their illustrious respective histories.

United surpassed Liverpool in the last decade as the Reds were forced to settle for sporadic cup success, while the Red Devils dominated under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Thirteen titles in the Premier League era saw United move to 20 top-flight crowns overall, while Liverpool's triumph this year - their first since 1990 - leaves them now one behind on 19.

However, the Reds have won six European Cups to United's three and are currently the reigning English, European and world champions.

Overall, United have won 66 top-level trophies in their history - a tally they could still improve in the FA Cup and Europa League this season - whereas Liverpool are now on 64.

The Merseysiders have enjoyed a revival under Jurgen Klopp, who has steered them to glory in the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and now Premier League during the last two seasons.
