Xavi: 'Less pressure on Louis van Gaal in the Premier League'

Xavi says that there is "less pressure" on Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal now that he is coaching in the Premier League.

Barcelona legend Xavi has claimed that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is "much calmer" working in England because he believes that there is "less pressure" on the coach in the Premier League.

The Dutchman, who took charge of the Red Devils last year, has faced criticism for his style of play.

United have struggled to pose much of an attacking threat in their last few games, but Xavi, who played under Van Gaal at Barcelona, has praised the 64-year-old's methods.

In an interview with ESPN, Xavi said: "[He is a] good person, very good trainer. He has a very strong character, but he's calm in the Premier League because there's less pressure. He's much calmer than when he was at Barca or Bayern Munich.

"He's honest, methodical and a real perfectionist. He's very demanding, he's strict and he wants to achieve the highest levels possible."

United are currently fourth in the league table, two points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games.
