Louis van Gaal puts faith in Manchester United youngster Paddy McNair

Louis van Gaal praises the ability of 19-year-old defender Paddy McNair, who will start for Manchester United against Everton on Sunday.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has praised young defender Paddy McNair, who will start against Everton in this Sunday's Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

The 19-year-old impressed his Dutch boss after he was called into the first team in last weekend's 2-1 victory over West Ham United due to a host of injuries in defence.

"We still have three central defenders injured so he shall play, he is the only player who can play in the right-sided defensive position," Van Gaal told reporters.

"I chose him last week and he played very good. It's difficult for a player like him to maintain that level, that is his biggest challenge."

United can get their first back-to-back wins of the season if they overcome the Merseyside club on home turf this weekend.
