Louis van Gaal will not recall James Wilson following Wayne Rooney's injury

Louis van Gaal says that he will not recall James Wilson from his loan at Brighton, despite Wayne Rooney facing a spell on the sidelines with knee ligament damage.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that he has no intention of recalling James Wilson from his loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, despite Wayne Rooney suffering knee ligament damage.

The club captain, who has scored seven goals in United's last nine games in all competitions, is expected to be sidelined for two months.

Wilson is currently on loan in the Championship, but Van Gaal seems content with having Anthony Martial, Will Keane and Memphis Depay to fill the void.

"At this point I can call James Wilson back, but at this point I have possibilities with Will Keane and Anthony Martial," Manchester Evening News quotes Van Gaal as saying. "Also there is Memphis Depay."

United turn their attention to the Europa League this evening as they take on FC Midtjylland in the first leg of their last-32 tie.
