Edwin van der Sar backs Louis van Gaal for success

Edwin van der Sar insists that Louis van Gaal is the right man to bring success to Manchester United.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has insisted that Louis van Gaal is the right man to bring success to Old Trafford.

Van Gaal is on course to take the club back to the Champions League, but he has faced criticism for not turning the team into title challengers after a busy summer in the transfer market.

However, Van der Sar claims that no other another manager could do a better job than his fellow Dutchman.

"Louis never has a lot of doubts in his life, so that's great," he told reporters. "I think it is important to have a strong manager who really know his stuff.

"He had success with Ajax, Barcelona and Bayern Munich and the national team.

"If he couldn't do it then it would be difficult to find someone else who could."

United, who have lost their last three games, are four points ahead of Liverpool in the race for Champions League qualification.
