Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly believes that the 2021-22 Manchester United squad is stronger than his treble-winning team of the 1998-99 season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly told his Manchester United squad that they are better than the infamous treble winners of 1999.

The Norwegian formed an integral part of the Red Devils' famed 1998-99 team - netting 18 goals in all competitions - including the historic winner against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

United have failed to replicate such successes since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, however, with Solskjaer seeking to end a nine-year wait for the club's next Premier League title in the 2021-22 season.

However, the Red Devils have strengthened their squad with three high-profile summer signings, and The Sun claims that Solskjaer has told his side that they are stronger than his treble-winning crop.

Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane both completed long-awaited moves to Old Trafford this summer, but the report claims that the capture of Cristiano Ronaldo forms the basis of Solskjaer's optimistic thinking.

United have taken seven points from their opening three Premier League fixtures this term, and Solskjaer supposedly believes that Chelsea are the club's biggest rivals for the 2021-22 title.
