Scholes turns down coaching role

Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed that Paul Scholes turned down the offer of a coaching role with the club.

The 38-year-old retired from playing at the end of last season following a 20-year career at Old Trafford.

"He wants to have some time off with his family," Moyes told reporters. "Paul was fantastic with me and wanted to help a lot.

"I probably spent an hour or two on the phone with him. He wants to spend time with his family at the moment. We'll bring him in when he's ready."

Scholes's former teammates Phil Neville and Ryan Giggs will both act as coaches with United next season.
