Robin van Persie: 'Manchester United too sloppy in possession'

RVP: 'United too sloppy in possession'

Robin van Persie has admitted that Manchester United were "too sloppy" to pick up victory against Sunderland, but he remains confident that his side can quickly return to winning ways.

The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light this evening to ensure that they remain winless in the Premier League following their home defeat to Swansea City last time out.

"In possession we were a bit too sloppy," Van Persie is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I did work with Louis van Gaal for two years, he is very clear of what he asks from every player in the team. Of course where I can I will help.

"Everyone has faith and everyone believes in his staff and our players because we have great players. We have played two games and we only have one point, we would have loved six points but that didn't happen and we need to bounce back.

"I feel fit, I feel good and I am looking forward to the next minutes."

United turn their attention to League Cup duty in midweek with a trip to face MK Dons.
