Wayne Rooney 'disappointed' by Chelsea draw

Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney admits that he is disappointed to have only managed a goalless draw against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has admitted that he is disappointed by his side's goalless draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford this evening.

The Red Devils hit the woodwork twice in the first half but were ultimately unable to find a breakthrough as they made it eight games without a victory.

Rooney admitted that it was not an ideal result despite an improved performance, but insisted that the team would strive to turn things around.

"We created a lot of chances but didn't manage to take one. The crowd were excellent today and you could see how much it meant to the players," he told BT Sport.

"It's a disappointing result because we dominated the game but that is football. A lot of people say a lot of different things. We would be letting ourselves down if we didn't go out on the pitch and give our all. We will keep fighting and we will come back."

United now sit five points adrift of the Champions League places at the halfway stage of the season.
