Jose Mourinho confirms Bastian Schweinsteiger return for Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho tells reporters that previously exiled midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is training with the Red Devils first team once again.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is training with the first team once again.

The German World Cup winner appeared to have been frozen out of the squad by the Portuguese coach and was reportedly considered surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

However, recent pictures posted on United's official Twitter page appear to show Schweinsteiger taking part in training with the rest of the first-team players ahead of Thursday's Europa League match at Fenerbahce.

"Schweinsteiger is back," Mourinho told reporters on Wednesday. "It was based on the fact we are in this time of the season where it is hard to train with all the players.

"It is the human and professional decision to bring him back to the team. He will be much better prepared in case his future decision is to leave the club.

"If he stays with us he becomes one more option. In this moment we have no problems in midfield like we do in defence, but if we do he is one more option."

The former Germany international joined United from Bayern Munich in 2015 during Louis van Gaal's spell in charge of the Red Devils.
