Jose Mourinho claims that he is no longer at war with Pep Guardiola as the rivalry between Man United and Man City is not as intense as Barcelona vs. Real Madrid.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has insisted that he has no personal rivalry with Pep Guardiola now that they are both managing in the Premier League.

The two men locked horns numerous times during their time together in La Liga, with El Clasico showdowns between Real Madrid and Barcelona often centring around the men in the dugouts.

Despite their numerous bust-ups in Spain, Mourinho claims that the pair now get along just fine, as he prepares his Man United side for Friday's pre-season friendly clash with Guardiola's Manchester City at NRG Stadium in Houston.

"You know, in Spain, it is two clubs fighting against each other. Now Atletico Madrid is also close, but in our time, it was just about us," he told reporters. "For three years, it was just about us. Champions League matches, La Liga titles, Copa del Rey finals, Super Cup finals.

"Everything was about Real and Barcelona. We were in a situation of it being not easy. In England, I knew, I knew before it happened that it would be completely different, because it's a completely different league. But we worked together. We were colleagues for three years. We lived in the same stadium, in the same dressing room for three years.

"We were good friends and we showed that last season, that we could perfectly show the football world that our relation is positive. Are we rivals? Yes. We want to win the same titles? Yes. But with the respect that we could show last season."

United and City met three times last season, winning one game apiece and drawing the most recent encounter 0-0 in April.
