Former boss Jose Mourinho suggests that he remains doubtful over whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can be a long-term success at Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has seemingly suggested that he feels that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not be a long-term success at Manchester United.

The North-West giants sacked Mourinho in December, and his temporary replacement Solskjaer has gone on to register 32 points from 12 matches in the Premier League.

However, Mourinho has questioned whether the Norwegian - and Fulham's caretaker boss Scott Parker - will continue to make an impact if given the managerial reins on a full-time basis.

The 56-year-old told beIN Sports: "Can [Fulham] get a better manager than Claudio [Ranieri]? Not at all. Can you compare the experience between Claudio and Scott, who is going to coach a team for the first time? Not at all.

"But sometimes in football, and you have the example with my former club, that sometimes changes on the immediate - I don't believe too much in these changes in the long term - but these changes on the immediate, there are sometimes some positive results."

Solskjaer remains the clear favourite to be named as Mourinho's permanent successor.
