Molde chief executive officer Oystein Neerland clarifies that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has more than two years to run on his existing contract with the Norwegian club.

Molde chief executive officer Oystein Neerland has moved to clarify that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains contracted to the Norwegian club until 2021.

Speaking in the build-up to Manchester United's huge Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, Solskjaer suggested that his existing terms with Molde may have already expired.

The 46-year-old was given permission by the Eliteserien side to take charge of United on a six-month basis in December, at which point he was expected to make way for a permanent manager at Old Trafford.

However, Solskjaer has forced his way into the reckoning to become United's full-time boss thanks to a superb run of form since taking the reins, losing just one of his 16 matches at the helm.

Solskjaer's claims that he is free to negotiate with United are wide of the mark, though, with Neerland moving to clarify the situation by sending a text message into TV2.

"Before Christmas we signed a new agreement with Ole Gunnar for three new years," The Mirror quotes the Molde chief as saying.

"Afterwards Ole Gunner has taken over as temporary manager at Manchester United, a job that goes on until summer. Ole Gunnar is now employed at Manchester United, and plans to return to Molde after the season."

United have climbed into the top four of the Premier League and into the last eight of the FA Cup thanks to their turnaround in form under Solskjaer.
