Michael Carrick: 'Fear factor is returning'

Michael Carrick warns Manchester United's Premier League rivals that Old Trafford is slowly but surely becoming a fortress again.

Michael Carrick has claimed that Manchester United's 3-0 win over Hull City is another step toward re-establishing their "fear factor" at Old Trafford.

United picked up their third successive victory in the Louis van Gaal era for the first time in the Dutchman's tenure.

Visiting the Red Devils was one of the most daunting fixtures in the Premier League calendar during Sir Alex Ferguson's reign, and Carrick hopes that his teammates can make the Theatre of Dreams a nightmare for opposing teams once more.

"I think everyone in the stadium felt Hull was a good performance and that's the sort of standard we want to be at," he told The Guardian.

"Dominating teams and winning. We've done it in the past but the past is the past. We need to do it again.

"And hopefully as time goes on we can carry on like this and that fear factor will creep back."

Van Gaal and co, who sit fourth in the Premier League table, host Stoke City on Tuesday night.
