Bryan Mbeumo's Man United debut date is revealed as £71m summer arrival prepares to sport famous jersey

Mbeumo debut date revealed as Amorim prepares to unleash £71m summer signing

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Bryan Mbeumo will make his debut for the Red Devils in Sunday night's pre-season friendly with Everton.

Mbeumo completed a £71m switch from Brentford just before the Man United squad flew to the United States for their pre-season tour, and he was not involved against either West Ham United or Bournemouth.

However, Amorim has said that the Cameroon international's first appearance in a Man United shirt will come against Everton on Sunday, as the team bring their pre-season tour to a close.

"I'm really excited to see him play and what he can give to our team," said Amorim when asked whether the attacker would make his debut for Man United in the clash with the Toffees.

The 20-time English champions will be bidding to make it three straight wins in the Premier League Summer Series before heading back to the United Kingdom to prepare for their final friendly of the summer.

Mbeumo to make Man United debut against Everton

Man United will round off their pre-season against Fiorentina on August 9 before welcoming Arsenal to Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.

Mbeumo has arrived at Man United off the back of scoring 70 goals and registering 51 assists in 242 appearances for Brentford in all competitions.

Last season, the 25-year-old scored 20 times and registered eight assists in 38 Premier League appearances, and he is said to have rejected Newcastle United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in order to join Man United this summer.

Where will Mbeumo play for Man United?

Mbeumo has seemingly been signed by Man United to operate as one of the number 10s in Amorim's 3-4-3 system, with fellow new signing Matheus Cunha also set to feature in that position.

However, it would not be a surprise to see Mbeumo used through the middle at times next season, especially if the Red Devils are unsuccessful in their attempts to sign a new striker this summer.

Mbeumo could also potentially be used in the right-sided wing-back role, although that is only likely to occur if there are injury issues considering how impressive he was in the final third of the field last season.

In an ideal world, Amorim would want to name Mbeumo and Cunha either side of a new striker in his starting XI, with RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko viewed as the club's number one target in that area.

However, Newcastle United are pushing to sign the 22-year-old, with a club-record offer for the Leipzig forward allegedly being placed on the table by the Magpies.
